Frequently asked questions
What is Property Passport UK?
Property Passport UK is the national property data registry for England and Wales. It aggregates verified data from HM Land Registry, the EPC Register, Ordnance Survey, and the Environment Agency into a single record per property, identified by its verified address. The platform covers 19.35 million properties and is free to search.
Is Property Passport UK free to use?
Yes. Searching and viewing property records is free for everyone, with no account required. Professional users such as estate agents, conveyancers, and surveyors can access additional features including bulk data access and API integrations through paid plans.
Where does the property data come from?
All data comes from official UK government sources: HM Land Registry (ownership and title data), the EPC Register (energy performance certificates), Ordnance Survey (mapping and location data), and the Environment Agency (flood risk assessments). Property Passport UK does not generate its own data — it aggregates, standardises, and presents existing public records.
What information is included in a Property Passport?
A Property Passport includes the verified address, EPC energy rating, tenure type (freehold or leasehold), sale price history from Land Registry, flood risk assessment, local authority details, and a Completion Score showing how much verified data is available. Property owners can also add documents, photos, and additional information.
How do I search for a property?
Enter any UK postcode or full address into the search bar on the homepage. Results show all matching properties with their verified data. You can also browse by postcode area to see all properties in a specific location.
What is a digital property logbook?
A digital property logbook is a permanent digital record for a home that stores all its data, documents, and history in one place. Property Passport UK provides a free digital property logbook for every property in England and Wales, pre-populated with official data from HM Land Registry, the EPC Register, and the Environment Agency. Homeowners can add documents, photos, and compliance certificates to their logbook and share it with buyers, solicitors, or agents.
Is Property Passport UK the same as a property logbook?
Yes — a Property Passport is Property Passport UK's term for what the industry calls a digital property logbook. The government and the Residential Logbook Association (RLBA) use the term "digital property logbook," while Property Passport UK uses "Property Passport." They refer to the same concept: a persistent, verified digital record for a specific property.
