Why Property Passport UK Uses Blockchain for Verification, Not for Title
Property Passport UK uses blockchain as an identity and verification layer linked to a canonical Property Passport record. It does not replace HM Land Registry or create legal title on chain.

Property Passport UK is building persistent, property-centric digital records. The product’s centre of gravity is the Property Passport: structured context around a home over time, with Documents, Media, Tasks, and Events where enabled.
Property Passport Blockchain Verification is optional. Where it applies, it is best understood as an identity and verification layer: a way to create a public proof reference and a stable on-chain identity handle for an eligible passport, while Supabase/Postgres remains canonical.
Why “verification” is the right word
Verification, in this framing, is about which record you mean when you share a link, and what a stranger can check publicly without seeing private material. That is a different job from registering title.
Why title is the wrong promise
HM Land Registry remains the statutory register people rely on for legal title in the mainstream market for registered land. Conveyancers exist because transfers involve searches, enquiries, identity checks, and registration mechanics. A token cannot silently replace that stack without breaking basic consumer protection expectations.
What customers may see in plain English
Customer-facing language may refer to Property Identity Shield as the outcome name. That naming is meant to signal identity-first value, not a deed replacement.
